Valentines Day with Jared Place Presented by NC Local Music
Jared Place writes simple songs about complex things: life, family, love, home, heaven. Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity, laboriously trying on different musical styles like pieces of clothing, looking to find what fits. But there are others who emerge fully dressed, formed and fitted to their craft, in full command of their identity and music. Jared Place firmly fits in the latter category.
In this Mecca of songwriters, he is a true gem of uniqueness and authenticity, fresh to the capital city music scene in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on December 10th, 1990, Jared’s love for music came early. He considers his main influences to be Ace Enders, Brand New, Rob Thomas and Moses Mayfield. Growing up in Iowa, Jared remembers the day he found a catalog in his mailbox that was intended for his neighbors. Inside was a Rogue guitar for sale, and he had to have it. At age 16, Jared began teaching himself how to play guitar and by 17, had written his first song entitled ‘’Thoughts.’’ The following year, Jared got his first paid gig at a local coffee shop in his hometown, Waterloo. He quickly began to write insightful, powerfully delivered songs about his experiences – real and imagined, the experiences of others, and the serendipitous nature and universality of everything under the sun.
Since moving to Raleigh, NC in 2011, Jared has gained a powerful, word-of-mouth following. Whether performing solo or with his various arrangements, Jared makes it look easy; his singing soul-soothing and his ‘feet on the ground’ optimism nothing short of healing. In addition to performing four or five shows a week, Jared is staying busy writing songs and recording his debut album, showcasing a dozen solid originals of his true-to-form sound and a style all his own. Catch Jared Live many nights a week in the greater Raleigh area.
Various arrangements include Solo, Saxophone, Bass, Backup Vocals, Hand Percussion, Full Percussion.
